Research Opportunities in the Biothermal Sciences Laboratory

Undergraduate Research

Are you an engineering student interested in biology or medicine? Are you a biology student curious about engineering approaches to the life sciences? There are always opportunities for motivated and talented undergraduate students to do research in the Biothermal Sciences Lab, either for pay or for credit. As an interdisciplinary research group, we welcome students from diverse academic backgrounds, including engineering, biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and other fields. No specific pre-requisites are required for participating in research in the BSL, as projects are typically tailored to fit your qualifications. For example, research may be experimental, computational, or a combination of both. Check out ongoing research projects. Preference is given to students willing to work in the lab for more than a single semester, and to those who would consider their undergraduate research experience as a stepping stone to graduate research at Villanova University.

To be considered for an undergraduate research position in the BSL, please send the following application materials to the attention of Prof. Karlsson:

  • Resume or CV
  • Contact information for at least one reference
  • If you are not a Villanova University student, submit a copy of your academic transcript (official or unofficial)
