Survey Trip to Afghanistan March 25 - April 3, 2003

The trip was sponsored by Afghans 4 Tomorrow and Engineers Without Borders (EWB) International. The goal was to assess the water supply of the village of Bustan, located in the District of Farza and making recommendations for improvements. The reports posted below represent the finding of our group in the short time spent there. The funding for John and Michael's trip, as well as the engineering work, was provided through the generous contributions of Ben Mares. The following people traveled to Afghanistan as part of our group:
Bernard Amadei:  Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Colorado(CU)
Wahid Omar:French instructor at CU and educational director for Afghans for Tomorrow
John Brogan:Graduate student in the Department of Civil Engineering at CU and project coordinator for EWB-USA
Michael Raulli:PhD student in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at CU

The following links are to PDF versions of the report from our survey of Bustan. The uncondensed version is quite large (11 mb), which could take a significant amount of time to download for anyone using a standard modem. In this case, there is a condensed version (2.6 mb) with many pictures reduced in size or omitted altogether. Please email me at raulli@colorado.edu if there are any problems downloading the reports.
